# Where to place your cuckoo clock in the house?

The cuckoo finds its place in almost every room, provided a few simple guidelines are followed. Beyond aesthetics, the location also affects listening comfort and the proper functioning of the movement. The weight of the case and the presence of suspended weights on a mechanical model also change the way the installation is approached.

## The entrance and hallway, a classic

Traditionally, the cuckoo often decorates the entrance or hallway: it is the first object seen upon arrival, and its call is less disturbing there than near a bedroom. A clear wall, without furniture directly below, allows the weights to descend freely throughout their course.

## The living room, to enjoy it daily

The living room remains the place where one takes the time to observe the animations every hour: dancers, water wheel, or wood sawyer. Plan a hanging height between 1.80 and 2.50 meters, out of reach of a heat source (fireplace, radiator) or humidity (window, adjoining bathroom).

## The bedroom, rather for a quartz model

In a bedroom, a mechanical model can sound at night if the stop lever is improperly engaged. A quartz cuckoo, with its automatic light sensor, is better suited there: the call stops automatically as soon as the light dims. In all cases, a load-bearing wall and a solid fixing remain the basis of a durable installation. Once the cuckoo is hung, a final adjustment makes the difference: by ear, the tick-tock must remain perfectly regular, and a slight tilt of the case to the left or right is enough to correct the level of the movement.
