Description
The Engstler 464QMT cuckoo clock animates a Black Forest scene with its figures in traditional costume, its water wheel and its beer drinker. Its quartz movement brings out the cuckoo on every hour, before starting the music and the animations.
Movement and operation
Made by Engstler in the Black Forest, this cuckoo clock has a battery-powered quartz movement, with no winding at all. The pendulum swings on the front, the call of the cuckoo is doubled by an echo and the night shut-off is automatic.
On every full hour, the cuckoo comes out of its door and counts the hours, then one of the twelve melodies is triggered. The three dancers then turn on the balcony, the beer drinker comes to life and the water wheel starts to move.
An animated Black Forest chalet
The façade in a walnut-effect finish features half-timbering, a steep roof with grey shingles and windows with green shutters. Three figures in traditional costume stand on the balcony, with the dancer in the red dress in the centre.
On the left, the blue water wheel sits under a small canopy. On the right, a figure is seated at a table with his beer mug, accompanied by a dog and its puppy. The edelweiss, the flowers and the blue gentians are hand-painted.
