Description
The Engstler 420/1QM cuckoo clock cultivates an all-wood charm with its small 20 cm chalet in brown tones. Every hour, the call of the cuckoo rings out with its echo before giving way to one of the twelve melodies.
Echo and melodies through the hours
Made by Engstler, in Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest, this small chalet runs on batteries thanks to a musical quartz movement. Every hour, the cuckoo calls, its call is picked up by an echo, then a melody is heard. Twelve tunes are available, from the “Kuckuckwalzer” to “Salut d'amour”.
At night, the automatic shut-off interrupts the sounds to preserve calm during the hours of rest.
A chalet in brown tones
The whole decoration comes in shades of brown wood: the grooved planks line the chalet under a grey roof with large shingles, while the dark brown dial displays cream Roman numerals.
A carved fir tree stands on the left of the façade. On the other side, a small bench sits near a railing, like a quiet corner to enjoy the scenery. The same small-chalet charm, but more colourful: a model with green shutters is adorned with flower boxes and a red mushroom.
