Description
The Hönes 105nu cuckoo clock is the smallest of the Hönes stag-head cuckoo clocks. At 25 cm, it combines the manufacturer's carved hunting decoration with the operation of a mechanical 1-day cuckoo clock.
The movement, day after day
Its mechanical 1-day movement is driven by two pine cone-shaped weights. The chains allow daily winding. The cuckoo calls once on the half hour, then indicates the number of hours on the hour. A lever allows the call to be switched off manually during the night, while the clock keeps running.
Like all Hönes mechanical clocks, it comes with its VdS certificate of authenticity, the guarantee of a genuine Black Forest cuckoo clock.
A hand-carved stag head
The stag head with large antlers crowns the clock on a carved escutcheon. Five large leaves frame the decoration, with a lattice worked around the cuckoo door and the dial. The bottom is adorned with carved crosspieces. The walnut tint gives the whole a warm unity, while the black dial with cream Roman numerals provides the finishing touch.
