Description
The Engstler 400QM cuckoo clock runs through twelve melodies, a new one each hour, in a 23 cm hand-painted chalet. All the cheer of the Black Forest, with the simplicity of a quartz movement.
Twelve melodies and three sound modes
Made by Engstler, a family manufacturer in Villingen-Schwenningen, in the Black Forest, this cuckoo clock runs on batteries and keeps accurate time. On every full hour, the bird comes out to sing, then the music takes over: the drinker raises his mug and the mill wheel starts to turn.
A switch sets the sound according to the moment: cuckoo and music, cuckoo only, or silence. At night, a light sensor automatically mutes the cuckoo and the music. A movement designed for everyday life, whose battery operation is detailed in our guide.
Edelweiss, mill and beer mug
Large painted edelweiss bloom on each side, just under the roof. Lower down, the windows with green shutters hold their flower boxes, and the balcony is covered in flowers. On the left, the blue mill wheel turns beside a small fence. On the right, the drinker sits on a log, near a fir tree. On the base, a white edelweiss blooms among hand-painted red flowers.
And to raise a glass to music with a pair of dancers, the drinker also has his place in another Engstler chalet.
