Description
The Hönes 100bu cuckoo clock offers a simple way to rediscover how a traditional Black Forest clock works. Its mechanical 1-day movement marks the day with the call of the cuckoo and daily winding.
Movement and operation
Made by Hönes in Titisee-Neustadt, this small mechanical cuckoo clock runs on a 1-day Regula movement and two pine cone-shaped weights. The chains are pulled each day to wind the clock. The cuckoo comes out of its small door and calls once on the half hour, then indicates the number of hours on the hour.
The night shut-off is operated manually by a lever: it switches off the call without stopping the clock from running.
A colourful traditional carving
Handmade in the Black Forest, this VdS certified cuckoo clock features five large leaves tinted in green and ochre, as well as a bird with outspread wings and an orange-red breast. The wood is worked in a lattice pattern around the dial and in crosspieces in the lower part. A leaf extends the pendulum. The Hönes logo replaces the XII on the dial, as a detail of the manufacturer's authenticity.
