Description
The Hönes 100enz cuckoo clock is a superb small mechanical model that combines the skill of traditional carving with hand-painted flowers. VdS certified, its cuckoo calls on every half hour.
Movement and operation
Made by Hönes in the Black Forest, this cuckoo clock runs on a mechanical 1-day Regula movement and two pine cone-shaped weights. The chains are pulled each day to wind the mechanism. On the half hour, the cuckoo comes out of its door and calls; on the hour, it indicates the number of hours.
A lever allows the call to be switched off manually during the night, while the clock keeps running.
Gentians and edelweiss
The decoration in wood stained with a walnut finish features five large carved leaves. The two central leaves each hold a hand-painted blue gentian, while the other three bear a white edelweiss, also hand-painted. Each flower is accompanied by green foliage. At the top, the carved bird spreads its wings. The lattice around the dial and the crosspieces at the bottom reinforce the relief of the whole.
Blue gentian and edelweiss, two emblematic mountain flowers, are brought together here on the same clock. You can also find its all-edelweiss version, or choose a musical model decorated with the same alpine flowers.
