Description
The Hönes 122enz cuckoo clock adds a touch of colour to traditional carving thanks to its hand-painted flowers. At 20 cm, it combines the charm of a small mechanical cuckoo clock with a decoration in which the blue of the gentians takes centre stage.
The call of the cuckoo, hour after hour
The 1-day mechanical movement is driven by two pine cone weights, wound once a day by pulling the chains. At the half hour, the cuckoo calls once. On the full hour, it counts out the hours, accompanied by a gong. A lever lets you silence the call for the night. The dial and hands are made of wood, and the pendulum is carved in the shape of a leaf.
Made by Hönes in Titisee-Neustadt, this clock bears the VdS seal and comes with its certificate of authenticity.
The blue of the gentians
Three blue gentians brighten the front: the first crowns the carved leaf at the top, the other two frame the dial. Just below, a white edelweiss completes the bouquet. Every flower is hand-painted, stems and green foliage included. For those who love edelweiss most, the same carving adorned entirely with white edelweiss gives it the leading role.
All around, carved leaves and branches surround a case decorated with lattice work. The walnut-stained wood sets off the black dial, its cream Roman numerals and the Hönes logo in place of the XII.
