Description
The Hönes 6234/4T cuckoo clock is one of the manufacturer's most imposing carved pieces: 50 cm of hunting decoration, completed by music and dancers who turn every hour.
A mechanical movement, a music box
Made in Titisee-Neustadt by Hönes, this cuckoo clock runs on a mechanical 1-day movement, to be wound every day by pulling the chains.
The cuckoo calls once on the half hour, then counts the hours on the hour. The music box then takes over with its two tunes, while the dancers turn beneath the roof and the pendulum continues its course. A lever allows the sounds to be switched off for the night.
To keep this mechanism in good shape year after year, our advice on winding and maintenance sets out the right steps.
A whole hunting tableau carved by hand
The carving, deep and meticulous, unfolds the repertoire of the hunt: an antlered stag's head crowns the case, oak foliage frames the whole, a hunting horn goes around the dial, a hare and a bird stand on each side, and the game bag closes the scene below the dial.
Its 50 cm and its weight call for a solid, clear wall, in a living room or a reception room. The same repertoire comes in a plainer form on a crossed-rifles decoration in 8-day.
