The Hönes 100nu cuckoo clock is the most classic version of this small carved cuckoo clock, which Hönes offers in several finishes. With its walnut tint and black dial, this small mechanical model relies on the traditional codes of the Black Forest cuckoo clock.
A cuckoo clock to wind every day
The mechanical 1-day Regula movement is driven by two pine cone-shaped weights. The chains allow it to be wound daily. On the half hour, the cuckoo calls once, then indicates the number of hours on the hour.
A lever allows the call to be switched off manually during the night, while leaving the clock running. At 20 cm high, excluding the weights and the pendulum, this model is easy to hang on the wall.
The walnut tint
The walnut tint gives the wood a warm colour, enhanced by lighter highlights on the edges of the five large carved leaves. At the top, the bird with open wings stands out from the decoration. The lattice around the dial and the carved crosspieces in the lower part extend this traditional work.
The black dial with cream Roman numerals creates a sharp contrast with the wood. Hönes makes the carvings and the cases by hand in the Black Forest.
