# Properly Hanging Your Cuckoo Clock

Here is the procedure to follow.

## Choosing the right location

Plan for a stable wall, capable of supporting the weight of the cuckoo clock and the movement of its weights. Allow sufficient height below the case: the weights descend throughout the day and must never touch the floor or furniture. Avoid proximity to a heat source, a radiator, or a window exposed to humidity.

## Mounting

Use a sturdy screw and, if necessary, a wall plug suitable for your wall. The cuckoo clock must rest flat against the wall. Most models have a suspension hook on the back designed for this purpose.

## Leveling

This is the key step for a mechanical movement. Once hung, listen to the “tick-tock”: it must be perfectly regular. If the rhythm is irregular, tilt the cuckoo clock very slightly to the left or right until you obtain an even beat. This adjustment ensures time accuracy and the health of the mechanism.

Finally, remember to install the weights, the pendulum, and, if applicable, to release the cuckoo’s bellows by removing the transport fasteners.
